Knife, drugs seized during Second Line weapons call: police

Police arrested Joseph Dokum after officers responded to Second Line East regarding a man with a knife on Saturday afternoon, states a news release issued by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.

At the time of his arrest, the 33-year-old was in possession of utility knife as well as suspected methamphetamine and codeine.

Full text of the release follows:

On March 5, 2022, officers with Patrol Services charged 33-year-old Joseph Dokum with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Around 12:30 p.m., officers responded to a call of a man with a knife at a business in the 700 block of Second Line East. Staff saw the accused with a knife and asked him to put it away and he refused. Upon arrival officers identified the man as the accused and the investigation revealed he was wanted for failing to comply with a probation order.

He was arrested. A subsequent search found him to be in possession of a utility knife, approximately 1.8 grams of a substance believed to be methamphetamine and 36 pills believed to be codeine.

He is charged with:
    •    possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
    •    possession of a controlled substance x2
    •    fail to comply with a probation order x2

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
