A 27-year-old is facing multiple child pornography charges after detectives raided a home on Lake Street and seized several electronic devices.

The investigation began last November, when officers with the Technological Crime Unit started examining “potential child sexual abuse material activity on social media in Sault Ste. Marie.”

Police say the investigation led detectives to an address in the 300 block of Lake Street, where they executed a search warrant on Jan. 11.

“Following extensive examination of the devices seized, detectives found evidence of child sexual abuse material,” says a news release issued today by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.

This morning at around 9:30, the suspect was located and arrested, police say.

Clint Aikens is charged with possession of child pornography and five counts of importing and distributing child pornography.

He is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Aikens is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
