Loaded sawed-off shotgun seized in East Street cocaine bust

An accused is facing multiple weapons charges in addition to a drug trafficking charge

A search warrant at an East Street apartment building has led to numerous drug and weapon charges for a 25-year-old.

On July 12, around 8:40 p.m., detectives with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service executed the search warrant in the 0-100 block of East Street.

The accused was inside and, which searching, police found approximately 16 grams of suspected cocaine, packaging materials, a digital scale, a loaded sawed-off rifle with the serial number tampered, ammunition, and $105 in Canadian cash.

The estimated street value of drugs seized is approximately $1,693.

As a result, Brandon Labbe has been charged with:

  • possession of schedule I substance for purpose of trafficking
  • unauthorized possession of firearm
  • knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
  • possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • careless storage of firearm
  • possession of restricted firearm with ammunition
  • careless storage of ammunition
  • possession of firearm knowing serial number has been tampered with
  • possession of property obtained by crime

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
