Local resident faces impaired charges

Sault Ste. Marie Police charged a 48-year-old with impaired driving on Nov. 19 after receiving reports about a potential impaired driver in the 600 block of Wellington Street West.

Around midnight, officers found a person standing outside a vehicle.

When speaking to the accused, the officers determined they had consumed alcohol.

The driver was arrested but police say they refused to provide a breath sample.

As a result, Jorey Jackson, 48 years old of Aweres Township, was charged with the following: 

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and/or drug
  • Refusal to comply with demand

Jackson was released on an appearance notice and will appear in court on Jan. 9, 2023.
