The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service has charged a 17-year-old with flight from a peace officer after an incident that happened earlier in the week.

Police say that shortly before 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, officers saw the teen driving a vehicle on Albert St. West.

"Officers knew the accused was wanted on outstanding warrants  and attempted to conduct a traffic stop," a release from City Police states. "The vehicle did not stop and continued driving at a high rate of speed. Officers did not pursue and attempts to locate the vehicle were unsuccessful."
