Male facing assault and animal cruelty charges

On July 18, 2017 officers with the Patrol Services Division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 33-year-old male in relation to domestic violence investigation.

It is alleged that on July 17, the accused engaged in a verbal argument with his girlfriend. 

The argument escalated and the accused (allegedly) choked the victim, punched her and struck her head off of the floor. The accused then threatened to kill the victim and kicked the victim’s cat before leaving the residence.

Police located the accused on July 18 and he was placed under arrest. The accused has been charged with;

  • Two counts of assault,
  • Two counts of uttering threats, and;
  • One count of cruelty to an animal

It was also found that the accused was wanted on an outstanding warrant for theft under $5,000, failure to appear in court and failure to appear for fingerprints.

He was additionally charged with those offences and was held for bail court.
