On July 12, 2017 officers with the Patrol Services Division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 31-year-old Gerald Pound of Pim Street in relation to an impaired driving investigation.

It is alleged that just before 3 a.m. the accused was operating a motor vehicle on Great Northern Road in Sault Ste. Marie. Officers observed that vehicle swerving within a lane of traffic and then proceed through a red light at Great Northern Road and Northern Avenue.

Officers stopped the vehicle and formed grounds to believe that the driver’s ability to operate the motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol. The accused was placed in custody and charged with one count of impaired operation of a motor vehicle and one count of operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol level that was over the legal limit. 

He will appear in court on August 21, 2017.
