A 53-year-old man faces charges after Sault Ste. Marie Police discovered a person inside a building that had been broken into on Jan. 9.

Just before midnight, 911 communicators received a report of an alarm being triggered at a business in the 0-100 block of Foster Drive.

Upon arrival, police say they found the business had been broken into and property had been damaged. Police found the accused inside the building and he was arrested.

Gerald Burns is charged with break-and-enter, mischief and failure to comply with a probation order, according to a news release.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Burns is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
