Man accused of pointing firearm, shooting it inside residence (3 photos)

Police say the accused was also in possession of suspected fentanyl, meth

Sault Ste. Marie Police have arrested someone with pointing a firearm among other charges after an incident that took place last evening.

Police say they responded to a report of gunshots in the 200 block of McNabb Street at 6:30 p.m. last evening.

They say the accused forced their way into the victim's residence with a shotgun, struck the victim with it, demanded money and fired off a shot in the residence.

Police say the victim and accused are known to each other. The victim was able to escape and call police. 

Upon arrival, police say they witnessed the accused throwing the gun out the window before being arrested.

During a further search, police say they found the following:

  • 18.7 grams of suspected fentanyl
  • 25.36 grams of suspected methamphetamine
  • A large quantity of Canadian currency
  • Items taken from the victim's residence

As a result, Jordan Paim, 30, was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Pointing a firearm
  • Robbery using a firearm
  • Using a firearm while committing an offence
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
  • Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Eight counts of possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
  • Two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Three counts of property obtained by crime under $5,000. 

He was held for bail court.
