A 25-year-old man is accused of throwing a bottle at a city bus multiple times and then threatening a police officer who responded to the scene.

Sault police say that around 1 p.m. on July 18, officers were flagged down by a transit worker on Conmee Avenue.

“The worker reported a person, later identified as the accused, had thrown a bottle multiple times at a bus window, damaging it, and had verbally threatened to cause harm to the victim,” says a news release issued today by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.

After being placed under investigative detention, the suspect allegedly threatened the officer.

Norman Shaganash is charged with:

  • Uttering Threats x2
  • Mischief Under $5,000
  • Failure to Comply with Probation Order

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear back in court on Sept. 18, 2023.

None of the allegations against Shaganash have been tested in court and he is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
