Man accused of trying to steal bicycle

Police say the 30-year-old was in possession of break-in tools and a purple substance believed to be fentanyl

30-year-old Patrick Stone faces multiple charges after police say he attempted to steal a bike last night.

Police say they responded to a call around 9:30 last night of the accused attempting to cut the lock off of the bike located in the 300 block of Great Northern Road.

When they arrived, police say they saw the accused, and later determined that the lock on the bike had been tampered with and that the accused was in possession of a hacksaw.

Police say the accused also had various break-in tools and a small amount of suspected fentanyl.

On Oct.28, 2021 around 9:30 p.m. officers responded to a call of a man attempting to cut the lock off of a bicycle in the 300 block of Great Northern Road.

Upon arrival officers observed a man, later identified as 30-year-old Patrick Stone, matching the description of the person attempting to steal a bicycle.

Further investigation determined the lock used to secure the bicycle in a nearby rack had been tampered with and the accused was in possession of a hacksaw.

He was arrested and a subsequent search found him to be in possession of various break in tools, including a hacksaw and bolt cutters, and a small amount of a purple substance believed to be fentanyl.

He is charged with attempted theft, possession of break-in tools and possession of a controlled substance. He was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 21, 2021.
