Man arrested after police recover stolen power tools

Police say the tools were taken from a nearby construction site

Sault Ste. Marie Police have arrested someone for possession of stolen property after an incident that took place earlier this week. 

A news release issued today reports that officers responded to a call around 10:42 a.m. yesterday morning in regards to a suspicious person in the 300 block of Queen Street East. Complainants reported a person was in an SUV with stolen tools from a nearby construction site.

When they arrived, police saw the accused in the vehicle and tried to speak to him, but he didn't respond. After ensuring he was safe and alert, officers discovered multiple power tools and accessories, which were confirmed to be property stolen from a nearby construction site. 

As a result, Jean-Paul Grenier, 33, was arrested and charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 30.
