Man faces multiple charges after police pull over vehicle

Laurence Foreman of Desbarats is facing multiple charges after officers observed him driving erratically in the downtown core, a news release issued by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service stated. After the accused refused to exit the vehicle, officers had to force entry. 

Full text of the release follows:

On March 6, 2022, officers with Patrol Services charged 35-year-old Laurence Foreman of Desbarats, Ontario with operation while impaired – alcohol and/or drug.

Around 8:20 p.m. while on patrol in the downtown core, officers observed a vehicle driving erratically. Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 100 block of Bay Street. Upon speaking with the driver, officers were able to identify the accused and developed grounds to believe the accused’s ability to operate a vehicle was impaired by alcohol.

The accused was ordered from the vehicle but refused to comply. Officers had to force entry into the vehicle and placed the accused under arrest. Further investigation revealed he is a suspended driver.

He later provided two breathe samples into an approved device, registering two fail results.

He is charged with,

  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and/or Drug
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80+)
  • Obstruct Peace Officer
  • Driving While Suspended under the Highway Traffic Act

He was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on April 4, 2022.
