A 28-year-old is facing impaired driving charges after Sault Police found a man slumped over the steering wheel of a running vehicle — at 9:30 in the morning.

Police were called to a parking lot in the 600 block of Second Line West on Friday, Oct. 20.

“Upon arrival, officers observed a person slumped over in the driver’s seat of the running vehicle,” says a news release issued by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service. “Officers woke the driver, who was identified as the accused, and developed grounds to believe their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by drugs.”

Brett Anderson was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – Drugs and/or Alcohol
  • Failure or Refusal to Comply with Bodily Substance Screening Demand
  • Failure to Comply with Probation Order x2

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing. None of the allegations have been tested in court and Anderson is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
