A 21-year-old is facing multiple charges after a bizarre chain of events early Saturday morning in the city’s west end.

At around 1 a.m. on March 9, Sault Police say someone phoned 911 and asked to be arrested on the strength of an outstanding OPP warrant.

But by the time officers reached the person’s residence, the caller had driven away.

Police say the person was later located “driving at a high rate of speed on Peoples Road before turning left through a red light onto Wellington Street West without stopping.”

When officers pulled over the driver, they suspected he’d been drinking. After refusing multiple demands for a breath sample, the man was arrested.

Even Grisdale is charged with:

  • Dangerous Operation
  • Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand
  • Operation While Prohibited Under the Criminal Code x4

Police say the accused refused to sign an undertaking and was transferred to the custody of the Ontario Provincial Police.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Grisdale is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
