Man wanted for multiple weapons offences as police probe James Street death

Sault Police are seeking 50-year-old Jerry Leveille in connection with the death of a woman in the James Street area.

He is wanted on weapons charges.

The body of a deceased person, later identified by friends as a woman named Charlotte, was discovered in the 100 block of James Street on May 17.

Police say the victim and the accused were known to each other.

The full text from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Services reads as follows:

As a result of the ongoing investigation into the death of a woman in the 100 block of James Street 50-year-old James Leveille is wanted for the following offences;

  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon
  • Knowingly possessing an unauthorized weapon
  • Possession of a loaded firearm
  • Possession of a firearm contrary to prohibition order

The victim and accused were known to each other. This is not a random act of violence.

If anyone has information about the incident or the whereabouts of Jerry Leveille, they are urged to call 911. If you see the accused, do not approach him. He should be considered armed and dangerous.
