Man with headlamp, pliers accused of stealing catalytic converters on Pim Street

One person was arrested early this morning after police responded to Pim Street to investigate a report of “someone underneath vehicles.”

Shortly before 5 a.m., police say responding officers located a man in possession of two catalytic converters, as well as reciprocating saw, headlamp, and a set of pliers, says a news release issued by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.

Jacob Boissoneau, 32, is charged with:

    •    Mischief over $5,000
    •    Theft under $5,000
    •    Possession of property obtained by crime
    •    Possession of break-in instruments
    •    Probation order: non-compliance – keep the peace and be of good behaviour x2
    •    Probation order: non-compliance – not to possess catalytic converters
    •    Probation order: non-compliance – not possess break-in instruments

He remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing. None of the allegations have been tested in court, and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
