Sault Police searched a wooded area along Pine Street on Friday afternoon, looking for a missing 10-year-old boy. The boy was found a short time later.

A 10-year-old child who was briefly missing in the wooded area between the Sault Ste Marie Armoury and the top of Pine Street hill has been found safely, says a spokesperson for the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.

The boy was found safely a short time after, said Sault Police spokesperson Licoln Louttit.

The search was concentrated on a wooded area on the western edge of Pine Street, with police arriving about 12:45 p.m.

Three police units were on the scene searching for the boy, as well as two women in plain clothes. One of the women told SooToday a kid had run away from the day camp she was overseeing.

Louttit said the day camp employees knew where the child was but could not get him to come with them. He said the child is now with a parent.

Police did not confirm which program the boy had run away from.
