The following two persons will be appearing in bail court this morning:
41 year-old Timothy Maahs of no fixed address was arrested on the 31st of March just before 7 am. He is charged with one count of aggravated assault, one count of personation with intent and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 31ST of March just before 2 am the accused assaulted another male known to him by pushing him through a glass door. It is also alleged that when the accused was arrested he identified himself as another person. At the time of the incident he was on probation with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. The victim suffered lacerations to an arm and his face area. The victim was taken to Sault Area Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
A 16 year old male youth was arrested at his east end residence on the 31st of March at 10:30 pm and charged with one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, one count of fail to stop for police and two counts of breach of probation under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. It is alleged that on the 30th of March just before 10 pm the accused was driving in a reckless and dangerous manner on Dacey Road in excess of 120 km/hr. It is further alleged that the accused failed to stop for a stop sign, while driving at a very high rate of speed. At the time of these offences the accused was being followed by the police and refused to stop for the police.
Impaired Driver Caught at Customs
At approx. 1:15 Am on Saturday March 31st a male was arrested at Canada Customs for impaired driving. It is alleged that the accused entered a closed lane at the Canada Customs Plaza. When the customs officers spoke to the driver it was discovered that the male was under the influence of alcohol. Charged with impaired driving and consume over the legal limit is 56-year-old Louis Belanger of 525 Shannon Rd. The accused is to appear in court on the 14th of May.
Youth Charged with Mischief
A 14-year-old male was arrested and charged with mischief under $ 5,000. and breach of probation . It is alleged that the youth broke a mirror at the group home where he was residing. He will be appearing in court on May 1st.
Assault & Mischief
On Friday March 30th the Sault Ste Marie Police arrested a 35-year-old male and charged him with assault and mischief. It is alleged that the accused attended at the east end residence of his ex-wife and while there he assaulted her and damaged her vehicle. The assault consisted of the accused pushing her several times. The victim did not require medical attention for any injuries. The accused will be appearing in court on May 2nd.
Male Charged with Assaut & Break & Enter
On Friday March 30th the Sault Ste Marie Police arrested a 22-year-old male and charged him with assault and break and enter. It is alleged that on Feb. 27th the accused broke into a residence of a female known to him and assaulted her by grabbing, pushing and restraining her. The victim did not suffer any injuries as a result of the assault. The accused will be appearing in court on May 2nd.
The Sault Ste Marie Police Service investigated five break and enters this past weekend.
Entries were reported to residences in the 200 block of Gloucester St- a small amount of cash was taken.
The 100 block of Albert St W. - it is unknown what was taken at this time.
The 100 block of Trelawne Ave. - unknown what was taken.
The 100 block of Vera St. - premises were ransacked and damaged - unknown if anything was taken
In the 100 block of Prentice Ave a garage was entered - unknown what was taken.
Sault Ste Marie Police received eleven reports of mischief this weekend.
The following is a list of the locations:
A bus shelter was damaged on Wellington St.E.
A mailbox was damaged in the 1000 block of Old Goulais bay Rd
Vehicles were damaged in the following area - one in 1000 block of Queen St.E., three in the 100 block of Prentice Ave., two in the 100 block of Trunk Rd., one in the 100 block of Tancred St. and one in the 700 block of Queen St. E.
The Pita Pit, located in the 500 block of Queen St. E. was the victim of some graffiti over the weekend.
Parkewood Ave residents report a number of mischief and thefts over the weekend. Residents in the 100 block report broken fences, stolen and damaged mailboxes, stolen and damaged Sault Star boxes, a damaged light pole and a stolen carriage light pole.

Single Vehicle Accident
On the 31st of March at around 3 am city police were called to the Wellington Street East underpass in regards to a single motor vehicle collision. It is alleged that 20 year-old Kyle Riel of 56 Cunningham Road was operating his motor vehicle on Wellington Street East when it struck a north concrete wall. Upon arrival the officers discovered that the driver was under the influence of alcohol. The accused was arrested and charged with one count of impaired operation of a motor vehicle and one count of consume over the legal limit. He is to appear in court on the 14th of May.
Breach of Probation
On the 1st of April at around 1 am a male attended at the city police station and turned himself in for breaching his probation. It is alleged that the accused beached his probation by attending at the victim’s west end residence and communicating with her. At the time the accused was also on probation to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. The accused was charged with three count of breach of probation and is to appear in bail court this morning.
