The following persons will be appearing in bail court this morning:
1) A 45 year-old female was arrested just before 2 am on the 22nd of April at her west-end residence and charged with two counts of assault with a weapon. It is alleged that she struck her husband with a wrench and threw two glasses at him. The victim received injuries that did not require medical attention. The 36 year-old husband was also charged with one count of assault in this incident. It is alleged he grabbed his wife around the neck and pushed her.
2) A 45 year-old female was arrested on the 21st of April around 8:30 pm and charged with one count of assault and one count of possession of property obtained by crime. It is alleged that the accused attended at her girlfriend’s downtown residence got into an argument and pushed her several times into some furniture. It is also alleged that she stole the victim’s purse. The victim received injuries not requiring medical attention.
3) 35 year-old Kevin Bouchard of 342 Railroad Drive in Heyden Ontario was arrested on the 22nd of April just after 11 pm and charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime and one count of break, enter and commit. It is alleged that on that date the accused was located driving a vehicle with stolen plates in the downtown area. The accused was also wanted on an outstanding warrant for break and enter to a residence on John Street on the 19th of January 2006.
4) A 16 year-old male was arrested at 10 am last night at a downtown bar and charged with one count of assault with a weapon and one count of threaten death or bodily harm. It is alleged that the accused was with a group of males in the area of Tancred Street and Albert Street West around 7 pm when they approached another group of males riding their bikes. Words were exchanged and the accused pulled out a knife and attempted to slash the victim with it. The accused also threatened to cut the victim’s throat. The victim and the accused were not known to each other.
5) 26 year-old Brian Wade of 105 Haden Street in Peterborough Ontario was arrested just before 2 am this morning on Great Northern Road and charged with being intoxicated in a public place, one count of assault peace officer and one count of resist and obstruct peace officer. It is alleged that the accused was found intoxicated and staggering down Great Northern Road by city police. The accused refused to identify himself and began to fight with officers. One of the officers was spat on while attempting to arrest the accused.
6) 46 year-old Gordon Petts of 470 Charles Street was arrested at his residence at noon yesterday and charged with two counts of assault with a weapon and one count of breach of a release document. It is alleged that at 9 am on the 19th of April the accused got into an argument with two males that were visiting him at his residence. The accused struck both males in the head area with a liquor bottle. Both victims had to attend at the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Impaired Driving
1) 27 year-old Crystal Flamand of Pikangikum Ontario was arrested on the 22nd of April and charged with one count of impaired driving and once count of consume over the legal limit. It is alleged that on the date just before 7 am the accused was driving on Landslide Road when she lost control of the vehicle, went off the roadway and struck a guard rail and some trees. When officers arrived they discovered the driver to be under the influence of alcohol. No injuries were reported. She is to appear in court on the 28th of May.
2) 25 year-old Martin Ferland of 225 Huron Street was arrested on the 21st of April just after 4 am on Lyons Avenue and charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit. It is alleged that on that date officers on patrol observed the vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Farewell Terrace, skid through the intersection at Wallace Terrace without stopping at the stop sign and then fail to stop for two red lights on Wallace Terrace. Officers were able to stop the vehicle and discovered the driver to be under the influence of alcohol. The accused is to appear in court on the 28th of May.
Attempted Break & Enter
There was an attempt break and enter reported to have occurred between the hours of 10 am and 11 am yesterday to a residence on Spading Avenue.
City police are investigating several mischief complaints over the weekend:
Resident mailboxes in the east-end of the city on Hussey Street, Welcome Avenue and Bristol Place were damaged. It appears that some type of an explosive substance was placed in the mailboxes causing the boxes to explode. There were no injuries involved in these incidents and police are currently investigating them. Anyone with information regarding these incidents is asked to call city police at 949-6300 or crimes stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
Vehicles and a fence were spray painted at the Steelton Motors lot on Northern Ave. Vehicles parked in the 100 block of Queen Street and the 300 block of Lake Street suffered damage to their windshields. A transport parked near the Eastgate Hotel was vandalized. Neighbourhood youths are believed to be responsible for damaging a fence in the 100 block of Grosvenor Ave
The Sault Ste Marie Police Service were called to investigate four break and enters over the weekend. Break-ins were reported to a residence in the 100 block of Dacey Road. A small amount of jewellery was stolen. A garage was entered in the 100 block of McFadden Avenue. Once inside culprits spray painted a vehicle with graffiti. A yellow mountain bike was stolen when thieves entered a shed at a Paladin Avenue residence. It is unknown what was stolen when thieves broke into a residence in the 300 block of Wellington St.West

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service is looking for witnesses to a motor vehicle collision that occurred on Sunday April 15th at 1:30 pm in the area of the Canadian Tire Gas Bar on Great Northern Road.
At approximately 1:45 pm officers from Traffic Services attended at a motor vehicle collision involving a white car that pulled out of the Gas Bar into oncoming traffic on Great Northern Road into the path of northbound silver Hyundai. The silver Hyundai was unable to stop and struck the rear area of the white car. The white car left the scene of the accident. No one was injured in the collision. The white car would have damage to the left rear side.
