A man is facing charges of obstructing justice, assault causing bodily harm, threatening death and unlawful confinement after an encounter on Albert Street yesterday with a women planning to testify against him in court on another matter.

Police say the man punched the woman several times in the the head and face and dragged her back into an Albert Street residence when she tried to escape.

Police also say the man violated a recognizance not to communicate with the woman and not to consume alcohol.

Gaurd Receives Death Treats

Two local men and a young person who can't be named in media reports have been charged after a guard at the Northern Treatment Centre received a death threat over the weekend.

Charged with criminal harassment and threatening death are:

- Twenty-one-year-old Graham Tarrant of 680 Portage Lane.

- Paul Young, 40, of 6 Manilla Terrace.

Police say the men were spending weekends at the remand centre.

The guard was allegedly told he would die after the trio's
release.
