27 Year Old Arrested On Outstanding Warrants

27-year-old Robert Brownlee of 164 Archibald Road, Bruce Mines was arrested on the 18th of August in regards to outstanding warrants.

The accused was wanted for two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance, one count of breach of probation and one count of obstruct police from July of this year.

Officers had received information that the accused was at a downtown address.

When officers attended at the address the accused fled through a second floor window but was quickly apprehended by officers after a short foot pursuit.

Impaired Drivers

40-year-old David Pitawanakwit of 4-244 Queen Street East was arrested on the 18th of August and charged with one count of consuming over the legal limit.

It is alleged that the accused was under the influence of alcohol when he was stopped during a RIDE program around just after 11 p.m.

The accused was stopped on Wellington Street East near East Street.

The accused will appear in court on September 25.

A 38-year-old male was arrested on the 18th of August just after 11:35 p.m. and charged with a number of offences.

It is alleged that the male was stopped during a RIDE check and identified himself as someone else.

Through the course of their investigation officers were able to confirm the identity of the male.

The male was wanted on a warrant in relation to a number of domestic violence-related charges.

The accused was arrested on the warrants for two counts of breach of probation, two counts of breach of a release document and two counts of breach of a peace bond.

In addition the male was arrested for one count of obstruct police, one count of breach of a release document, one count of personation with intent and one count of breach of a peace bond.

46-Year Old Charged For Partying

46-year-old Harvey Gingras of 2-42 Cathcart Street was arrested and charged with one count of mischief under
$5,000 and will appear in court on September 25.

It is alleged that on the 19th of August the accused was having a loud party and a neighbour in the area had been kept awake most of the night with the noise.

Officers attended in the early morning hours and warned the accused to keep the noise down, but the noise continued.

Officers attended a second time and charged the accused under the City’s noise bylaw and the noise still continued.

On the third call of the night, which was around 5 a.m., the accused failed to answer the door for the officers.

Officers re-attended at the accused home in the evening hours of the 19th and subsequently charged the accused with mischief.

He will appear in court on September 25.

Break & Enters

City Police received a number of break and enter reports over the weekend:

1) Two sheds were reported entered between the 17th and 18th of August at S. and S. Construction on Landslide Road. A quantity of copper wire was taken.

2) A home on Churchill Boulevard was entered between 5 p.m. on the 17th and 5 p.m. on the 18th of August and a purse with a small quantity of money was taken.

3) A home on Smale Avenue was entered on the 18th of August in the afternoon hours and a DVD, a stereo and a phone were taken.

4) A home in the 300 block of Second Line West was entered between 9 p.m. on the 18th of August and 6 a.m. on the 19th of August. A small amount of money and some cold cuts were taken.

5) A home on Breton Road was entered between 5 p.m. on the 18th of August and 5 p.m. on the 20th of August. A laptop computer was taken.

Robbery At Timmy's

33-year-old Leon Legault of no fixed address was arrested just before 1 a.m. this morning and charged with one count of robbery.

Shortly before 12:45 a.m. this the accused attended at Tim Hortons on Second Line West and (allegedly) demanded money from the cashier.

The accused [allegedly] indicated he might have a firearm.

The cashier complied and a small quantity of money was turned over to the accused.

The accused also demanded a coffee to go.

Other staff members contacted 911 to report the robbery.

Officers from Patrol Services attended at the location and the accused was taken into custody without incident.

A search of the accused revealed that the accused did not have a firearm.

The accused was on a release order at the time of the offence and has been charged with three counts of breach of a release order.

Property Obtained By Crime

19 year old Jordon Driver of 208-27 Terry Fox Place was arrested on the 20th of August and charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged tha on the 14th of July the accused gave an individual known to him a number of DVD's that had been stolen in a break and enter on the 13th of July at the Terry Fox Place.

Assault & Impaired Driving

A 48 year old male was arrested on August 20th and charged with one count of assault and one count of impaired driving. It is alleged tha the accused and his girlfriend got into a verbal argument and the accused pushed the victim into a phone booth. Police attended in the east end of town and spoke to the victim. The accused was located in a parking lot on Trunk Road sitting in the driver seat of a transport. The accused was under the influence of alcohol and was subsequently chargned. The incident occured shortly before two am.

Assault & Reckless Driving

A 35 year old male was arrested on the 19th of August at 6:30 am and charged with one count of assault and one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. It is alleged that the accused and his common law wife got into an argument and the victim was pushed into the bathroom area of the home. The victim got into her car and left the residence. The accused allegedly follow the victim in his vehicle. It is alleged that the accused tailgated the victim's vehicle and at one point gently hit the back of her vehicle, but no damage occured. The victim then drove to the police station followed by the accused. During the drive to the station it is alleged that the accused went through a number of red lights and was racing after the victim in an attempt to stop her.

16 Year Old Charged With Impaired & Theft Over $5000

On the 20th of August just efore 6am city police attended the 700 block of Second Line West for a single motor vehicle collision. It is alleged that the 16 year old youth stole a van and then lost control of the van striking a truck cap that was on a front lawn on Second Line West. When the officers arrived they noted that the youth was under the influence of alcohol. The youth was arrested and charged with one count of impaired driving, one count of consume over the legal limit and one count of theft over $5000. The youth will appear in court on September 26th.
