Two Bail Court Arrests Officers with the Sault Ste.

Two Bail Court Arrests

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 17 year-old male youth on the 18th of December at 2:55 am and charged him with one count of theft over $5,000, one count of possession of property obtained by crime and one count of operate a motor vehicle with no licence.  It is alleged that just before 1:00 am on the 18th of December officers attended at a single motor vehicle collision on Black Road near McNabb Street and discovered that the driver of the vehicle, the accused, was unlicensed.  When officers contacted the registered owner of the vehicle involved, it was revealed that the accused did not have permission to have the vehicle. He is to appear in bail court this morning.

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 15 year-old male youth on the 16th of December at 11:59 am on an outstanding warrant and charged him with one count of personation with intent and one count of breach of probation.  It is alleged that the accused was wanted for breaching his probation and when officers were dealing with him he falsely identified himself.  The accused is to appear in bail court this morning. 

Impaired Driving Arrests

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 27 year-old Tarra Leveille of 179 Albert Street East on the 16th of December at 10:58 pm on Sherbourne Street and charged her with one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit.  It is alleged that on the 16th of December at approximately 10:17 pm the accused was driving northbound on Sherbourne Street in a 2003 Pontiac Sunfire when her vehicle struck a parked car.  At the time she was found to be under the influence of alcoholic and failed the roadside screening test.  The accused is to appear in court on the 23rd of January. 

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 19 year-old Taylor Corboy of 3030 Third Line West on the 17th of December at 3:03 am on Third Line West and charged him with one count of consume over the legal limit.  It is alleged that on the 17th of December at approximately 2:50 am officers were called to a single motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Carpin Beach Road and Third Line West.  Upon arrival officers observed a white Chev Cavalier in the bush on the north side of Carpin Beach Road, just west of Third Line West, and when they checked the driver, the accused, he was found to be under the influence of alcohol.  The accused was given the approved roadside screening device test and registered a fail.  He is to appear in court on the 23rd of January. 

Third Male Arrested for Assault Incident

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 16 year-old and 18 year-old male at 2:30 pm yesterday afternoon as a result of an assault complaint that involved three youths allegedly attacking another youth in the area of Tancred Street around noon yesterday.  The victim received non-life threatening injuries as a result of being kicked and punched several times by the three males.  The 18 year-old, Jacob Diamond, of #2-48 Wellington Street East was charged with one count of assault and is to appear in court on the 23rd of January.  The 16 year-old youth was also charged with one count of assault and is to appear in court on the 17th of January. The third male is known to police and officers are attempting to locate him. 

Update: 

Officers arrested 18 year-old Justin Thibeault of 10 Wright Street on the 16th of December at 12:30 pm at the police station and charged him with one count of assault for his involvement in the incident.  He is to appear in court on the 23rd of January. 

Two Males Arrested for Assault: 

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested two male youths, age 15 and 17, on the 16th of December around 2 pm at the Station Mall after responding to a complaint of a fight involving three male youths.  When officers arrived they discovered that the two accused males had assaulted another male youth known to them while at the mall.  The 17 year-old accused also allegedly struck the victim in the head area with a padlock that was wrapped in a bandana.  The victim received non-life threatening injuries as a result of the incident.    The 17 year-old male was charged with on count of assault with a weapon and the 15 year-old was charged with one count of assault.  Both males are to appear in court on the 17th of January. 

Shoplifting Arrests

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 22 year-old James Bolan of 84 McNabb Street on the 17th of December at 3:20 pm at the Station Mall and charged him with two counts of theft under $5,000,00 and one count of breach of probation.  It is alleged that on the 17th of December at 2:46 pm the accused attended at Sears and stole some clothing.  He was apprehended by store security and held for police.  At the time the accused was on probation with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behavior.  It is further alleged that the accused was wanted for stealing a bike from Great Northern Road on the 24th of August. 

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 49 year-old Theodore Bogdanich of #41-1547 Trunk Road on the 16th of December at 1:40 pm at Zellers in the Station Mall and charged him with one count of theft under $5,000.  It is alleged that on the 16th of December the accused attended at Zellers and stole a bottle of Listerene.   He was apprehended by store security and held for police.  The accused is to appear in court on the 16th of January. 

Male Arrested for Possession of Stolen Property

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 21 year-old Andrew Karalash of #4-125 Gore Street on the 18th of December at 4:20 pm during a vehicle stop on Cathcart Street and charged him with one count of possession of property obtained by crime.  It is alleged that at the time the accused was operating a vehicle with stolen plates on it.  He is to appear in court on the 16th of January.

Break and Enter/Theft Reports

  • A business on Great Northern Road was broken into on the 16th of December.  Nothing was reported taken. 
  • A residence on Patrick Street was entered on the 17th of December at approximately 7:38 pm.  The homeowner was on the upper floor of the residence and the time and scarred two youths off.  Officers searched the area with negative results.  Nothing was taken.   The suspects were possibly both males and one was wearing a tan work jacket and a toque.  An attempt break and enter was reported to a residence on Princess Crescent. 
  • Three vehicles were entered on Cathcart Street, Shafer Avenue and Grandmont Crescent.  Change, credit cards, a car manual and a face plate were reported stolen. 

Mischief Reports

  • A front window was smashed at a business on Wellington Street West. 
  • A McNabb Street business window was smashed and bear spray was sprayed inside.
  • A rock was thrown through a vehicle windshield at a business on Albert Street West.

Festive RIDE Program Results:  

It is through the RIDE ((Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) campaign programs that we are able to raise awareness regarding drinking and driving and keep our roads and communities safer. In a further proactive effort to reduce impaired drivers on our roadways, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service conducted the Festive RIDE Program over this past weekend.  On Friday evening there were 524 vehicles checked.  Three 3-day suspensions, seven roadside tests, one Liquor Licence Act charge and eight other Provincial Offense Notices were issued.
