Numerous Charges Laid Against Male
42-year old Augustino Greco of 203 Eastern Avenue will appear in bail court this morning. He has been charged with one count of obstruct police, one count of theft under $5,000, one count of uttering a forged document, one count of attempt fraud, one count of possession of property obtained by crime and three counts of possession of a controlled drug or substance. It is alleged that on November 26th the accused provided a false address and false information about himself to the City Police to allow for his release from custody on other criminal code offences. It is further alleged that on or about November 3rd the accused stole a blank prescription form from a local doctor and a forged a prescription for oxycontin. It if alleged that the accused attempted to cause a local pharmacy to act on the prescription. On the 2nd of December the accused was arrested by officers from the Fraud Unit on the above charges. When the accused was searched officers located 2-20 mg pill of ritalin-methylphenidate, 1-100 mg morphine pill and 1.5 grams of marijuana.
Male Charged with Three Counts of Breach of Probation
A 25-year old male was arrested on Friday afternoon on outstanding warrants in relation to domestic assault incident from November 2nd. It is alleged that the male assaulted his ex-girlfriend by pushing her, grabbing her face and grabbing her hair. The incident took place in the victim’s vehicle. During the altercation it is alleged that the accused also damaged the wind visor on the drivers door. The male was also wanted from an incident on October 9th where it is alleged that the accused threatened to harm another male. The accused will appear in bail court this morning and is charged with one count of assault, one count of threatening, and three counts of breach of probation.
Mishcief Charges Laid
A 32-year old male was arrested on the 4th of December and charged with one count of mischief and two counts of breach of probation. It is alleged that just after midnight the accused punched the passenger window of a vehicle in which the accused’s former girlfriend was in. The incident occurred in the downtown area. It is further alleged that the accused attended at the victim’s residence as well while on probation not to attend at her residence and not to molest, harass or annoy the victim. The male will appear in bail court.
Assault Charges
A 25-year old male was arrested just after 7 pm last night and charged with assault in relation to a domestic incident. The male will appear in bail court. It is alleged that the accused assaulted the victim at a centrally located residence. The assault consisted of the accused pushing the victim to the ground, dragging her by her heels into the bedroom where it is alleged that the accused punched the victim and started to choke her. The assault occurred in the early morning hours and the victim attended later in the day to report the incident.
Ride Program
On the 2nd of December the Sault Ste. Marie City Police and the O.P.P. teamed up for the R.I.D.E. program. The unit was out for 5 hours and during that time period 300 vehicles were checked, 3 12-hour suspensions were issued, 5 roadside tests were conducted, 2-90 day suspensions were issued and two persons were charged with impaired driving related offences. City Police charged 48-year old Ian McMillan of 75 Country Club Place with one count of consume over the legal limit. He will appear in court on January 6th, 2006. The O.P.P. arrested the second individual and have that information for their release.
Robbery
On December 4th just after 5:30 pm a lone male entered the Hi-Way Variety Store located at 883 Trunk Road and demanded the money from the till. The male showed the clerk a pocketknife. The male fled the store on foot in an unknown direction. The male is described as being 6’3” tall, light complexion, in his late thirties, had bluish green eyes, Caucasian, wearing a black jacket, black toque with w West Coast Chopper’s Cross on the toque and blue jeans. The male’s voice was described as being deep. The suspect was given a very small amount of money. Break and Enter
City Police received one report of a break and enter over the weekend. Sometime between 2 and 2:30 am on the 3rd of December persons entered an address in the 500 block of Albert Street West and stole 4 pellet guns, 5 hunting knives and a pair of binoculars.
Trespassing Charges Laid
18-year old Mark Nadeau of 180 Elgin Street was arrested on the 4th of December just after 3:30 am and charged with one count of trespassing by night, 2 counts of theft under $5,000 and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that the accused entered onto property in the 1000 block of Peoples Road and stole money and a monocular from 2 vehicles in the area. He will appear in court on January 9th.
Male Charged with Mischief
18-year old Michael Genetti was arrested on the 2nd of December just before 11 pm and charged with one count of obstruct police, one count of resist police and one count of mischief. City Police attended at the address of the accused to investigate an under age drinking party complaint. It is alleged that the accused refused to let officers investigate the complaint. When arrested for obstruct the accused allegedly fought with the officers and resisted being taken into custody. It is alleged that the accused committed mischief by banging his head on the inside rear of the cruiser and spitting blood all over the backseat, the plexiglass divider, the interior roof and the interior door panel. The accused will appear in court on January 9th.
