Morning news:

On the 1st of February just before 3 a.m., officers from Patrol Services were on routine patrol in the downtown area when they spotted a vehicle drive through a parking lot at a high rate of speed. A male jumped out of the passenger side of the vehicle and ran down an alleyway. Officers followed the male down the alley way and noted that he had a weapon in his hand. When the male saw the officers he tucked the weapon in his waistband. The male was ordered to place his hands in the air and complied with the commands from the officers. The male was searched and officers located a collapsible baton.

While the two officers were dealing with this male a second male attended in the area waving a beer bottle and began to swear and yell at the officers. The one officer took this second male into custody.

The first male began to struggle and try to get away from the officer. As other officers arrived the two males were taken into custody without further incident.

18-year-old Daniel Gerow of Elmwood Avenue has been charged with one count of carry a concealed weapon, one count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and one count of resist police. He will appear in court on March 3.

The second male, 21 years old, was charged with intoxicated in a public place and he spent a few hours at the police station sobering up.
