Possession Charges Laid

40-year-old Simon Barnes of 588 Albert Street West has been charged with 1 count of Possession of a Controlled Drug. On the 27th of January the accused was found by City Police on Allen Street. The accused had on him a syringe containing cocaine. The accused will be appearing in court on the 6th of March.

Impaired Driver

At approximately 11pm on the 27th of January the accused 38-year-old Wilbert Joseph Couturier of 451 Second Avenue was arrested on Maki road for being impaired by alcohol while driving a 1987 Chevy pickup. The accused was transported to the station where he refused to give a breath sample. He has been charged with 1 count of Impaired Driving and 1 count of Fail to Provide Breath Sample. It was determined that the accused was a suspended driver. The accused has also been charged with Driving While Under Suspension Under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario. He is to appear in court on March 6th.

Male Charged with Assault with a Weapon

On the 28th of January the accused 36-year-old Lionel Fleury of 279 Northern Avenue East had been consuming alcohol when he assaulted a male known to him. It is alleged that the accused and the other male got into in argument and the accused assaulted the male by smashing a beer bottle over his head and swinging a bat at him several times. Mr. Fleury then attended outside where it is alleged he struck the victims vehicle with the bat causing the passenger window to smash and then entering his own vehicle and driving it into the victim’s vehicle causing severe damage. At approximately 8Am the accused was located driving his vehicle on North Street. He has been charged with 1 count of Assault with a Weapon, 1 count of Mischief under $5000.00 and 1 count of Consume Over the Legal Limit. Lionel Fleury is to appear in court on the 6 of March. The victim in this incident suffered minor injuries.

Male Assaults Girlfriend

A 24-year-old male will be appearing in Bail Court this morning after assaulting his ex-girlfriend. It is alleged that the accused attended at his ex-girlfriends residence on the 29th of January at approximately 3am, and assaulted her by pushing her in the mouth causing a cut to her lip. He also kicked a coffee table belonging to the victim causing it to break. Police were called and the accused was charged with 1 count of Assault and 1 count of Mischief under $5000.00.

Domestic Incidents

In another domestic related incident a 31-year-old male has been charged with 1 count of Assault. It is alleged that the accused assaulted the victim by shoving her to the ground, pushing on her face and kicking her left side. The accused fled the residence before Police arrived but was arrested a short time later on James Street. This incident took place at approximately 1am on the 29th of January. The victim sustained minor injuries and did not require medical attention.

In a third domestic related incident a 37-year-old male has been charged with assaulting his girlfriend. It is alleged that on the 28th of January the accused returned home and after an argument, assaulted his girlfriend by pushing her to the ground and punching her in the head. Police were called and when the male was arrested and searched he was found in possession of a controlled drug. The accused has been charged with 1 count of Assault and 2 counts of Possession of a Controlled Drug. The accused is to appear in court this morning.
