Male Charged with Theft
24-year old Justin Day of no fixed address was arrested on the 6th of January after officers from Investigation Services completed a number of investigations. It is alleged that on the 20th of October the accused broke into a residence in the 800 block of Wellington Street East and stole a number of power tools from the home. The accused was charged with one count of break and enter and commit an offence and one count of theft under $5,000. It is also alleged that on the 1st of January the accused assaulted a male by choking him with a towel and kicking and punching the victim. The accused and victim were known to each other. The accused has been charged with one count of assault in that incident.
Domestic Violence Call
A 56-year old male was arrested on the 7th in relation to a domestic violence call from December 26th. It is alleged that on that date the accused assaulted his girlfriend by punching and kicking her while in her east end residence. It is further alleged that the also threatened to harm the victim. The threat took place over the phone a short time after the assault. The male has been charged with one count of assault and one count of threatening to cause bodily harm or death.
Outstanding Warrants
41-year old Anthony Pearce of Point Edward, Ontario was arrested on the 8th of January on outstanding warrants. The incidents occurred from October of 2002 and November of 2004. The accused was arrested on one count of assault, one count of assault with a weapon, one count of threatening to cause death or bodily harm and one count of fail to appear in court. The assault involved a male victim.
Male Charged with Assault
A 43-year old male was arrested and charged on the 6th of January with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 4th of January the accused assaulted his male partner while in their centrally located address. It is alleged that the accused grabbed the victim by the shirt and pinned him against the wall by placing his arm on the victim’s throat.
Male Charged With 3 Counts of Mischief
A 44-year old male was arrested and charged with 3 counts of mischief under $5000 and one count of threatening to cause death or bodily harm. It is alleged that between February of 2003 and May of 2005 the accused poured antifreeze into the gas tank of his estranged wife’s car, as well as smashing the windshield and taillights of the car. It is further alleged that in January of 2005 the accused broke a window at the victim’s residence. It if further alleged that between 2003 and 2005 the accused threatened to shoot the victim as well as repeatedly threatening to throw battery acid in the victim’s face.
Female Charged with Breach of Probation
A 25-year old female was arrested and charged with one count of assault and one count of breach of probation on the 6th of January. It is alleged that the accused assaulted her boyfriend by scratching his face and biting him in the arm. At the time of the offence the accused was on probation. The incident occurred at the male’s east end residence.
Youth Charged with Breach of a Release Order
A 16-year old youth was arrested on the 7th of January and charged with one count of cause a disturbance by yelling and one count of breach of a release order. It is alleged that City Police attended at a centrally located address and asked the accused to leave a residence at the homeowner’s request. The accused stayed in the area and yelled and screamed at the officers. The accused was asked to leave the area several times and to quite down, as it was 3 am. The accused failed to listen to the officers and was subsequently arrested. The accused was on a release document not to communicate with an individual who the accused was with.
Female Assaults Teenage Daughter
A 38-year old female was arrested on the 8th of January and charged with two counts of assault causing bodily harm, one count of assault and one count of breach of a release order. It is alleged that on the 7th or 8th of January the accused assaulted her teenage daughter by pushing and choking her leaving red marks on her neck and chest area. The accused allegedly assaulted another teenage relative by pushing her and choking her as well, also leaving red marks, in addition to pinching the victim in the arm leaving a mark. The accused then kicked the two victims out of the west end home. On the 8th of January City Police attended at the residence for a domestic dispute, where it is alleged that the accused pushed her common law husband against a wall and poked in the eye. At the time of this assault the accused was on conditions not to molest, harass or annoy the male. The officers learned of the assault on the two teenagers at this time as well.
Driving While Under the Influence of Alcohol
18-year old Mark Charlette of 86 Chippewa Street and 18-year old Ronald Dowding of 394 Goulais Avenue were both arrested on January 7th just before 6 am. Officers attended in the 1000 block of Goulais Avenue after calls were received of a vehicle on it’s roof and 2 males walking away from the vehicle. It is alleged that the vehicle was stolen from an address in the 100 block of Clearview Drive. The vehicle was severely damaged. Officers located the males on Chippewa Street. Ronald Dowding has bee charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime and will appear in court on February 13th. It is further alleged the Mr. Charlette had been driving the motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. He has been charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime, one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit. He will appear in court on January 30th.
Break and Enter
City Police received one report of a break and enter over the weekend. A home in the 600 block of Douglas Street was entered during the afternoon of the 8th. Thieves made off with an X-box, several games, DVD’s and videos.
