Four To Appear In Bail Court This Morning
1) A 30-year old male was arrested on the 11th of June and charged with two counts of threatening to cause death or bodily harm. It is alleged that the accused called his ex-girlfriend and threatened to harm her and another ex-boyfriend of the victim.
2) A 30-year old male was arrested on the 10th of June and charged with one count of assault and one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance. It is alleged that the accused got into a verbal argument with his girlfriend at a downtown drinking establishment. It is alleged that the accused grabbed the victim by the arm and forced her out of the bar and dragged her down some steps. The victim broke free. When police arrested the accused they located a small quantity of what was believed to be cocaine on the accused.
3) A 37-year old male was arrested on the 10th of June and charged with one count of assault and one count of forcible confinement. It is alleged that the accused assaulted his ex-girlfriend by grabbing her by the hair and attempted to pull her into a downtown residence. The accused continued to hold the victim against her will. The victim was assisted by three people in the area who took the victim to an address to wait for the police. The victim did not require medical treatment for non-life threatening injuries.
4) A 12-year old youth was arrested on the 11th of June and charged with counts of mischief and three counts of breach of a release order. It is alleged that the youth threw a battery at an adult in the west end residence where the victim resides. It is further alleged that the accused attempted to dislodge a fire extinguisher that was attached to a wall, threw a butter knife at a wall leaving a hole in the wall and dumping a container of cinnamon on the stove of the residence. The accused was on a number of conditions on release orders.
Impaired Driving
23-year old David Moor of 805-621 MacDonald Avenue was arrested in the 11th of June and charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit. Around 3 am a citizen called the City Police to report a possible impaired driver that was seen in the west end of town. Officers on routine patrol were in the MacDonald Avenue area and observed the driver getting out of his vehicle. When officers approached the male they noted signs of impairment and subsequently arrested the male. Mr. Moor will appear in court on July 24th.
Assault Charges
A 42-year old female was arrested on June 11th and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that the accused and her husband got into a verbal argument at their west end residence. Investigation revealed that the accused allegedly punched her husband. The accused was arrested and charged with one count of assault. She will appear in court on July 12th.
26-year old Melisha Lepine of 4-702 Second Line West was arrested and charged on June 10th with one count of assault and one count of breach of recognizance-peace bond. It is alleged that on June 5th the accused assaulted a female known to her by punching and kicking the victim. The assault took place in the City’s west end. At the time of the offence the accused was on a peace bond to keep the peace and be good. The accused will appear in court on July 24th.
Break & Enters
On the 9th of June City Police received a report of a break and enter to a garage in the 3000 block of Queen Street East. It is alleged that thieves broke into the garage sometime between 5 and 7 pm, however nothing appears to have been taken.
On the 10th of June just after midnight a lone male entered a residence in the 1500 block of Queen Street East and stole a laptop computer. The male was described as being 5’9” tall, medium build, wearing a dark blue jacket with white stripes down the arms, dark coloured jeans, light coloured running shoes and a hooded jacket with the hood pulled up. The male was also carrying a yellow grocery bag.
On the 10th of June police received a report of break in to a shed in the 100 block of Panoramic Drive. It is unknown if anything was taken.
Between the 9th of June at 1:30 pm and 11:30 am on the 10th of June persons broke into a home in the 100 block of Grace Street and stole an undisclosed amount of money.

Motor Vehicle Collision
On Friday evening around 7 pm City Police attended at Spring Street and Albert Street East for a motor vehicle collision with injuries. A car operated by 47-year old Yvonne Jones of 15 August Street, Sault Ste. Marie was traveling eastbound on Albert Street East. A car operated by 80-year old Anthony Chornyj of 884 Queen Street East was traveling southbound on Spring Street. It is alleged that the Chornyj vehicle failed to stop for the stop sign and collided with the Jones car. Mr. Chornyj was taken by ambulance to the Sault Area Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Both vehicles received moderate damage. Mr. Chornyj has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario with one count of disobey stop sign-fail to stop.
Bear Sighting
Even though City Police received a number of bear sightings over the weekend, the numbers are down from last year at this time. Bears were reported in behind the Batchewana Learning Centre in Manitou Park, along Old Garden River Road, in the Parkview Court area, Second Line East and Black Road area and the Queen Street East and Falldien Road area.
