On June 9, 2017 officers with the Patrol Services Division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 58-year-old male in relation to a domestic violence incident.

The following is a news release from Sault Ste. Marie Police:

Female charged with theft

On June 10, 2017 officers with the Patrol Services Division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 29-year-old Morgan Periard or Second Line West for theft.

It is alleged that the accused attended a store in the 200 block of Second Line West and took $87.92 worth of merchandise before leaving the store without paying. The accused was apprehended by store security and held for police.

The accused has been charged with one count of theft under $5,000. She will appear in court on July 17, 2017.

Male charged with impaired driving

On June 11, 2017 officers with the Patrol Services Division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 22-year-old Jeremy Pereira of Queen Street East for Impaired Driving.

It is alleged that shortly after 1 a.m. on June 11, the accused was involved in a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of River Road and Queen Street East.  Once officers arrived, they found that the accused was intoxicated.

As a result, the accused was arrested and charged with one count of Impaired operation of a motor vehicle and one count of driving with a blood alcohol level that was over the legal limit. He will appear in court on July 17, 2017.

Male charged in domestic violence incident

On June 9, 2017 officers with the Patrol Services Division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 58-year-old male in relation to a domestic violence incident.

It is alleged that on June 9, 2017 the accused engaged in a verbal argument with his girlfriend. The accused then struck the victim in the nose and grabbed her by the neck with both hands. Police were contacted and the accused was soon after arrested.

The accused has been charged with one count of assault and he was held for bail court.
