Afternoon news 61 year old Melody Mordon of Dacey Rd was arrested and charged with one count of breaching a recognizance. It is alleged that on May 23, 2014 the accused was at a local restaurant passing out propaganda about the victim.

It is alleged that on May 23, 2014 the accused was at a local restaurant passing out propaganda about the victim. At the time the accused was on conditions not to communicate directly or indirectly with the victim.  The accused will appear at bail court on June 3, 2014 at 10:00am.

41 year old James Syrette of Wellington St West was arrested at the courthouse on an outstanding warrant for failing to appear for fingerprints. It is alleged that the accused failed to appear for prints on the 24 of March in regards to charges stemming from a breach of probation. The accused will appear at bail court on June 3, 2014 at 10:00am.

A 16 year old female turned herself in at the police station in regards to an outstanding warrant for an assault that occurred in March of 2013 at the city bus terminal.  The warrant was executed and the accused will appear in court on July 8, 2014 at 9:30am.

A 48 year old female was arrested at the courthouse in regards to charges that stem from a domestic incident in January of 2014. It is alleged that the accused broke into the residence of her ex-boyfriends and assaulted him, investigation further revealed an assault that happened a month earlier. She was charged with two counts of assault, one count of unlawfully in a dwelling house and 2 counts of breach of probation. The accused will appear at bail court on June 3, 2014 at 10:00am.

On the 31st of May officers arrested 52-year-old Gregory Sherwin of Hudson Street and charged him with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 30th of May the accused was in a local drinking establishment when he went behind the bar. As staff was removing him from the area, he struck one of the staff members in the face area. He will appear in court on June 23.

22-year-old Candice Champagne of Trunk Road was arrested on the 31st of May and charged with one count of theft under $5,000 and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that the accused attended at a local business and stole a donation box for the Relay for Life. She will appear in court on June 30.

A break and enter was reported to a residence at 125 Gore Street. It is unknown if anything was taken.

On Friday afternoon a Halford Carrerra Banshee bike, valued at $1300, was taken from an address in the 400 block of Northern Avenue.

Last evening a homeowner reported the theft of money from a purse, which had been left in the vehicle overnight, from Meadow Park Crescent.

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is again receiving numerous reports of theft from vehicles. Items being taken include GPS, cameras, laptops, cell phones and smart phones as well as wallets and passports. Do not leave valuables in your vehicle.

A 45-year-old male was arrested overnight after he was found in the company of a female who he was on conditions not to be with. As result, he was charged with 3 counts of breaching a probation order and will be appearing in bail court this morning.

City police were called to a centrally located residence early last evening to deal with a domestic assault complaint. Investigation revealed that a male and female were fighting and the male punched the female victim in the head numerous times. As a result the 26-year-old male was charged with assault and will be appearing in bail court as well.

Another domestic call in the downtown area involved a 31-year-old male and his girlfriend arguing over beer. It is alleged the male pushed the female through a door and then slammed it on her hand causing a cut on the victim’s hand. The male then punched the female in the face. He was arrested for assault and will be appearing in bail court later this morning.
