On June 19, 2016 at about 9 p.m. city police received a report of a possible impaired driver in the downtown core of the city. Police stopped the vehicle and arrested 76-year-old Hugh John Lougheed of Airport Road, Sault Ste Marie. Lougheed has been charged with impaired driving and operate a motor vehicle with over .08 of alcohol in his system. He will be appearing in court on July 25, 2016.
