The following persons will appear in bail court this morning:
1) A 21-year old male was arrested on the 18th of March and charged with one count of assault with a weapon. It is alleged that the accused got into a verbal dispute with his common law wife. It is alleged that the accused assaulted the victim by striking her with a broom handle, pushing her and slapping her. The victim did not require medical treatment.
2) 30-year old Patrick Woodcox of 90 Birchgrove Road, Trout Lake was arrested on the 17th of March and charged with one count of break and enter and commit an offence, one count of threatening to cause death or bodily harm, one count of assault with a weapon and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that the accused forced his way into a residence on East Street. Once inside the residence the accused grabbed a knife and threatened the lone male occupant.
Traffiking Charges
1) On the 18th of March just before 5:30 pm officers attended in the downtown area after receiving a call of a suspicious male. Officers attended in the area of Huron and Albert Street West and located a 17-year old male. The male was found to have 28 gram of marijuana on him with an estimated street value of just over $400. The accused also had a flick knife on him. The youth has been charged with one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance and one count of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public. The accused will appear in court on April 24th.
2) 24-year old Michael Larocque of 164 Pageant Drive was arrested and charged with one count of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance. It is alleged that on the 17th of March the accused had in his possession 15.3 grams of hash and approximately 5 grams of hash oil on him when officers were dealing with the accused on an unrelated matter. It is alleged that the accused also had a quantity of money with him as well as a set of scales. The estimated street value of the narcotics is $400. The accused will appear in court on April 23rd.
Mischief Under $5,000 & Breach
A 14-year old male was arrested on the 17th of March and charged with one count of mischief under $5,000 and one count of breach of probation under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA). It is alleged that the accused damaged a cork board while at his residence and threw it, punched a refrigerator causing a dent and also punching a closet door denting it. At the time of the offence the accused was on probation to keep the peace and be good. The accused will appear in court on April 24th.
27-year old Allen Waboose of 105-555 Albert Street West was arrested and charged on the 18th of March with one count of theft under $5,000. It is alleged that the accused attended at Sears Store in the Station Mall on the 16th of March and fled the store with 4 Braun Shavers with an estimate value of $1200. Officers from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service continued their investigation into this matter and as a result the accused was arrested on the 18th of March and will appear in court on April 23rd.
The following break and enters were reported over the weekend:
1) Sometime between 6:30 am and 3:30 pm a home in the 1900 block of Third Line West was entered and a Sony Surround System, a pellet gun and an undisclosed amount of money were taken.
2) On the 16th of March thieves attempted to break into a home in the 100 block of Cambridge Place.
3) Between 8:30 pm and 11:30 pm a garage on Central Street was entered. Items taken include a Craftsman drill, change and some Pabst Blue Ribbon beer.
4) In the early morning hours on the 18th of March a home on Grosvenor Avenue was broken into. Items taken included DVD’s and jewellery. The house was also damaged. No further details are available at this time.
