Male Charged With Assault
A 37-year old male will appear in bail court this morning after being arrested on Saturday evening in a downtown residence. It is alleged that the accused and his common law wife got into a verbal argument. The accused threatened to kill the victim, grabbed the victim by the throat and made a motion as if to punch the victim. The accused was on probation at the time of the offence with terms not to molest, harass or annoy the victim. The accused has been charged with one count of assault, one count of threatening and one count of breach of probation.
4 Persons Charged From Search Warrant
On Friday just before noon hour members of the Street Team along with officers from the Joint Forces Drug Unit attended at 29 Pentagon Blvd and executed a search warrant. Officers located 3 grams of cannabis resin, 4.4 grams of cannabis marihuana, one master craft snow blower, a stolen tripod and one sign from the City Board of Works. As well 3 grams of cannabis resin and 4.4 grams of cannabis marihuana were located. The street value of the drugs is approximately $200. The snow blower and tripod were determined to have been stolen from McCelland and Sons. Four persons were charged; each with 2 counts of possession of a controlled drug or substance and each with 2 counts of possession of property obtained by crime. The persons charged are Marty Acciavatti, age 38, of 29 Pentagon Blvd, 20-year old Ashley Greschuk of downstairs-29 Pentagon Blvd, 27-year old Sharri Mills of 588 McAllen St, and 25-year old Greg Smith of 69 Mahler Road of Goulais River. All of the accused persons will appear in court on April 25th.
Imparied Driving Charges Laid
City Police arrested 2 males over the weekend for impaired driving. On the 19th of March around 2 am officers were on John Street when they observed a pickup truck driving with no lights on as well as weaving on the road. The truck was stopped and the accused displayed signs of impairment. 45-year old Christopher Gendreau of 579 John Street was charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit. He will appear in court on April 25th. On the 21st of March just after 1 am officers observed a pickup truck in the downtown area driving without it’s lights and weaving as well. The vehicle was stopped on Hudson Street and the driver showed signs of impairment. 27-year old Dennis Rinaldi of 2-114 Church Street has been charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit. He will appear in court on April 25th.
Male Charged with Theft
On the 18th of March City Police attended at the Greyhound Bus Station and took a theft complaint. 2 male victims from out of town befriended a local male only to have some of their property stolen. It is alleged that the 2 victims met up with the accused and while they were waiting for the bus the accused took off with one of the victim’s backpack and the other victim’s bass guitar. The accused fled the area on a bicycle that he took from a third person at the bus station. Police located the accused and recovered the guitar. The packsack, which contained clothing, CD’s, a CD player and a DVD recorder, was not located, nor was the bike. The accused, 33-year-old Craig Witty of 12-874 Queen Street East has been charged with one count of theft under $5,000. Mr. Witty was also charged with one count of breach of probation for failing keep the peace and be good. The accused will appear in court on April 25th.
