Breach of Probation
19-year old Andrew Richards of 79 Pilgrim Street will appear in bail court this morning. Just before 4 am on the 1st of May the accused was found to be in an intoxicated state in the downtown area. The accused was on probation with conditions including not to consume alcohol. The accused was arrested and charged with 3 counts of breach of probation.
Two Counts of Assault
A 19-year old male will appear in bail court this morning after being arrested in the City’s east end on Saturday. It is alleged that on the 29th and 30th of April the accused assaulted his girlfriend by pulling her hair on those 2 dates. It is also alleged that the accused broke the victim’s digital camera. The accused has been charged with 2 counts of assault and one count of mischief under $5,000.
Impaired Driving Charges Laid
24-year old Michael Miller of Chicago, Illinois was arrested on the 1st of May just before 9 pm. Information had been received about a possible impaired driver in the City’s central area. Officers located the vehicle on Great Northern Road in the area of Northern Avenue. The accused showed signs of impairment and was charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit. He will appear in court on June 6th.
Male Charged with Assault Against Girlfriend
A 22-year old male will appear in court on June 6th after being charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on April 30th the accused assaulted his ex-girlfriend by pushing her. The accused was arrested and will appear in court on June 6th. The incident took place in the downtown area.
Youth Assaults another Youth
A 13-year old youth has been charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm. It is alleged that the accused assaulted another youth by throwing the male victim to the ground twice and then stomping on the victim’s ankle, causing injury, which required medical treatment. The youth will appear in court on June 7th.
Motor Vehicle Collision
A motor vehicle collision at Second Line West and Turner Avenue on Friday afternoon just before 1 pm sent 2 people to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. A van operated by 57-year-old Giovanni Diodati of 692 Cooper Street was making a left hand turn from Turner Avenue onto Second Line West when his van struck a van traveling eastbound on Second Line East operated by 19-year old Margaret Marshall of 190 Roosevelt Avenue. Mr. Diodati and his passenger were taken by ambulance for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Both vehicles sustained moderate damage. Mr. Diodati has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario with one count of fail to yield to traffic on through highway.
City Police responded to 4 break and enter reports over the weekend:
1) On April 30th 2 persons broke into White Pines High School on Trunk Road around 1:30 am but were scared off by security staff. One of the suspects may have been wearing a red hoodie. Officers checked the area with negative results for the 2 suspects. Nothing appears taken.
2) A residence in the 200 block of Wellington Street West was reported entered on the 30th during the evening hours. Nothing appeared to be taken.
3) The Parkland Baptist Church at 60 Melville Road was entered sometime overnight on the 29th and early morning hours of the 30th. Nothing appears to have been taken in that occurrence.
4) Around 1:30 am this morning thieves broke into General Mobile Radio at 80 White Oak Drive. A small undisclosed amount of cash appears to have been taken. The Canine Unit assisted officers but no suspects were apprehended.
