Youth Breaks into School A 16-year old youth was arrested on November 20th just before 1 am. It is alleged that the youth attempted to break into S.F. Howe Public School located at 440 Northland Road.

A 16-year old youth was arrested on November 20th just before 1 am. It is alleged that the youth attempted to break into S.F. Howe Public School located at 440 Northland Road. Information was received about a suspicious person in the area and the accused was located hiding behind a garbage can after a security officer heard the chains on the doors rattling. A search of the area located some damage to a chain link fence in an alcove area as well. The accused was arrested by security staff and turned over to City Police. The accused has been charged with one count of attempt break and enter.

Youth Causes Disturbance by Being Drunk

19-year old Nathan Elmore of Grand Valley, Ontario was arrested on the 19th of November and charged with one count of cause a disturbance by being drunk, one count of assault police and one count of resist arrest. City Police were called to downtown drinking establishment just after 1 am. The accused was being held by bouncers and was turned over the City Police. It is alleged that the accused was yelling and screaming and swearing in the area. When the accused was taken into custody he resisted arrested. While at the station the accused kicked one of the officers in the leg, as he was being placed in the cell area and also attempted to hit the officer. The accused became compliant after being tasered by officers.


Breach of Probation

A 24-year old male was arrested on the November 19th in the afternoon. It is alleged that on that date the accused threatening his ex-girlfriend. At the time of the offence the accused was on a probation order with terms not to communicate with the victim. The accused has been charged with one count of threatening and one count of breach of probation.

Male Charged with Assault

27-year old Terence Mingo of 454 Parliament Street was arrested on the 19th of November and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that during the early morning hours of that date the accused was at a downtown residence drinking with a number of persons. One of the homeowners asked the accused to leave. It is alleged that the accused became upset with the female victim and punched her in the head, back and face area. It is alleged that the accused also pushed the victim down a flight of stairs. The victim did not require medical treatment for the injuries she received.


Male Charged with Two Counts of Breach of Probation

A 29-year old male was arrested on the 19th of November and charged with two counts of breach of probation and one count of breach of a release order and one count of fail to appear in court. It is alleged that between the 5th of October and the 18th of November the accused attempted to communicate with his ex-girlfriend. When officers arrested the accused for the breaches of probation they learned there was a warrant for the accused for breaching release orders and fail to appear in court.


Male Threatens to Cause Death

A 21-year old male was arrested on the 19th and charged with one count of assault, three counts of breach of probation, two counts of threatening to cause death or bodily harm and one count of criminal harassment. It is alleged that the accused approached his ex-girlfriend in the downtown area on Saturday night and assaulted her by grabbing her throat and threatening to break it, as well as threatening the life of the victim’s young child. It is further alleged that as the victim tried to leave the area and walk away the accused continued to follow the victim and continually tried to stop her from leaving the area. At the time of the offence the accused was on probation with conditions not to communicate with the victim and to keep the peace and be good.

Trafficking Charges Laid

A 17-year old youth was arrested on the 19th of November and charged with one count of obstruct police and one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance. The officers approached the accused in the downtown area around 11 pm and the accused identified himself as someone else, but the officer knew the accused name. When officers arrested the accused for obstruct a search of the accused revealed 12 one-gram bags of marijuana with a street value of $240 as well as an amount of cash and a debt list on the accused.


Male Charged with Mischief

A 36-year old male was charged on the 21st with one count of assault, 3 counts of breach of probation and one count of mischief. It is alleged that on the 20th the accused attended at a downtown drinking establishment and got into an argument with an ex-girlfriend. It is further alleged that the accused followed the victim outside and punched her in the head a number of times. The victim went to her downtown residence and was followed by the accused, who entered the residence and allegedly broke the victim’s coffee table and front window. The accused left the residence but was located a short distance away by officers and arrested.

Robbery at Local Store

On the 19th of November just before 2 am City Police attended at the Mac’s Mart Store at 1230 Wellington Street East for a robbery. It is alleged that a lone male entered the store and demanded money. The lone clerk complied with the demand and the accused fled the store with a small-undisclosed amount of money. The male is described as being 5’4” tall, wearing a black leather jacket with a thin dark toque pulled down over his face and neck area. No weapon was shown to the accused but the accused did jester with his hands, which were in his jacket pocket.

Break and Enter

On the 20th of November just before 1:30 am City Police attended at the United Way Building located at 8 Albert Street East for an attempt break and enter. It is alleged that persons tried to pry open the front door. Entry was not gained.

Break and Enter at Old Stone House

Just after 2 am on the 20th of November City Police attended at the Old Stone House located at 831 Queen Street East for a break and enter. Thieves smashed the window of the building and also entered the building. Nothing was taken in the break and enter but the thieves cut themselves and left blood in the building.

Just after 3 am on the 20th of November City Police attended in the 100 block of Church Street for a break and enter in progress. A homeowner heard the glass break in their front doors and went downstairs to investigate. When the homeowner turned on the house lights they heard voices and footsteps running from the residence. It does not appear that anything was taken.

Impaired Driving Charges Laid

43-year old Robert Maki of 406 First Avenue was arrested just before 11 pm on November 18th and charged with one count of consume over the legal limit and one count of impaired driving. It is alleged that the accused left a drinking establishment on Great Northern Road and got behind the wheel of the vehicle and started the engine. The accused was arrested by a citizen in the area and turned over to police. The accused will appear in court on January 9th, 2006.
