One assault suspect in custody as police search for another

Both accused persons fled the scene when police were called

On May 29, 2017 officers from the Patrol Services Division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 20-year-old Tyler Gibson of Heyden, Ont. in relation to a break and enter.

It is alleged that on Feb. 21, 2017 around 11:30 p.m., the accused was in the company of another male when they attended the residence of a person known to them in the 1600 block of Wellington Street East. 

The accused forced the door open and Gibson is alleged to have swung an extendible baton causing damage to the residence while the second accused assaulted the occupant by punching him wearing a set of brass knuckles.

When police were called, both accused persons fled the scene. Police located Mr. Gibson on May 29, and he was taken into custody. 

Tyler Gibson has been charged with one count of break and enter / commit assault with a weapon, and one count of possession of a prohibited weapon. He will appear in court June 26.

Police are continuing efforts to locate the second accused.
