One year after a break-in on Bay Street, Sault Police have arrested a suspect.

On Aug. 22, 2023, someone phoned 911 to report a break and enter at a business in the 800 block of Bay Street. At the scene, police found damaged property and missing items.

Although the culprit had fled the scene, police identified a suspect and issued a warrant for his arrest.

A year later — on Aug. 9 — officers attended an unrelated call and spotted the suspect, who was placed under arrest.

Xavier Stoneypoint, 36, is charged with one count of break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence.

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled back in court on Oct. 21, 2024.

The charge has not been tested in court and Stoneypoint is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
