Police arrest suspect in Wellington Street East crash investigation

Police have arrested Juan Sanchez.

Sanchez, who was the subject of a search by police on Wednesday night locally, is wanted by the Niagara Regional Police Service on charges including robbery.

Sanchez was arrested on Thursday afternoon and is facing charges of theft and possession of stolen property.

Following is a full release from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service on the arrest:

Officers with Patrol Services, the Crime Suppression Unit and the Canine Unit were actively looking to locate 45-year-old Juan Sanchez in connection with a Feb. 23, 2022 investigation.

Around 1 p.m. officers observed a man matching the description of a suspect related to the ongoing investigation walking on Pim Street.

Officers confirmed his identity and he was arrested.

He is charged with,

  • Theft under $5,000
  • Possession of stolen property Under $5,000

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
