Sault Ste. Marie have charged two people they say were found in a stolen vehicle.

Police were dispatched to Routledge Avenue at around 1 a.m. today after someone called 911 to report a suspicious vehicle.

“Upon arrival, officers found both accused in a vehicle stolen from the 0-100 block of Alworth Place on January 19, 2024,” police said in a news release.

Patricia Vierimaa, 26, and Myron Jones, 39, have both been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

In addition, Vierimaa has been charged with failure to comply with a release order – other than to attend court.

Vierimaa is being held in custody pending a bail hearing and Jones has been released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on March 18.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and both are considered innocent unless proven guilty.
