A person riding a motorized stand-up scooter on Pine Street was hit Thursday afternoon and attended to by paramedics.

The 24-year-old operator of the scooter was taken to hospital with minor injuries, said Sault Police spokesperson Lincoln Louttit.

The scooter rider was travelling southbound on Pine Street at about 3:15 on Thursday when they were struck by a car turning onto the street from Willoughby Street.

The impact threw the rider backward off the scooter on to the road way. The driver stopped and attended to the rider, helping them to get off the road until paramedics arrived.

The rider was able to be helped to their feet but was visibly in shock.

The rider was attended to by paramedics inside the ambulance when police arrived to interview the driver and witnesses.

Louttit said the incident is still under investigation.
