Police presence began in the neighbourhood Monday, according to eyewitness

Sault Ste. Marie Police Service executed a search warrant in the central part of the city Tuesday after an extended police presence in the area over the past two days.

An eyewitness says that police vehicles were seen in the area of Albion Street and Chapple Avenue on Monday, and that officers were also spotted canvassing on Albion Street.

Police remained on scene overnight.

Sault Ste. Marie Police Service spokeperson Lincoln Louttit confirms that officers were holding a scene, and that a search warrant was recently executed. Officers cleared the scene Tuesday.

The investigation is ongoing.
