Male arrested for impaired driving

On the 24th of December 2016 officers with the Patrol Services Division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 20-year-old Jonathon Jones, of Ellis Road, with regards to an impaired driving incident.

It is alleged that at just before 8 a.m. on December 24, the accused was operating a motor vehicle on Wellington Street East at the intersection of Bruce Street in an intoxicated condition. 

The accused stopped for a red light at Wellington Street East and Bruce Street and did not proceed after the light turned green.  A witness observed this and contacted police. 

[Police allege] Officers soon after located the accused at the intersection passed out in the driver’s seat of the vehicle with the vehicle in drive and his foot on the brake. 

Officers [were] able to wake the accused and safely get the motor vehicle turned off. 

The accused was arrested for one count of Impaired Driving and one count of operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol level that was over the legal limit. 

He will appear in court on January 30, 2017.
