Police find suspected fentanyl, stolen items during theft investigation

Search found $110 worth of stolen merchandise and a substance believed to be fentanyl

On April 6, 2019, officers with the Patrol Services division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 23-year-old Jodie Neveau of Hynes Street for theft.

It’s alleged on April 6, 2019 the accused attended a business in the 200-block of Bay Street and was observed placing items into a bag. (It is alleged that) she then left the store without attempting to pay for the items. She was detained by store security and held for police. 

Police arrived, took her into custody and searched the accused. She was found to be in possession of approximately $110 worth of merchandise, as well as blue powder believed to be fentanyl. 

She is charged with one count of theft under $5,000, one count of possession of a controlled substance, one count of resisting arrest and one count of breach of probation. She is scheduled to appear in court on May 13, 2019.
