Police investigating after injured woman found on Albert Street East

Police look to the public for information after receiving multiple calls for 'disturbance' downtown Friday night

Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is looking to the public for information after a woman was found injured on Albert Street East after police responded to reports of a ‘disturbance’ downtown Friday night.

Police spokesperson Lincoln Louttit told SooToday that police initially responded to the first call for a disturbance involving multiple people in the 100 block of Albert Street East at around 11:30 p.m. Friday. 

Officers attended and identified a woman who was injured. She was subsequently taken to hospital. The extent of the injuries is unknown.  

Louttit says that police received multiple calls about the incident, which was described as an assault in one of the calls placed to police. 

The investigation is ongoing.
