Police say the accused pointed a gun at the victim

Police have laid charges in relation to an incident Monday evening that blocked off the Queen St. section of Jamestown. The full text of the release follows:

On March 14, 2022, officers with Patrol Services and Investigation Services charged 24-year-old Jacques Roy with weapon offences.

Around 5:30 p.m. the accused was at a residence in the 600 block of Portage Lane. While there, [it is alleged that] the accused pointed a gun at the victim and threatened them. He left the area before police arrival.

Upon arrival officers contained the area. Around 7 p.m. officers located a loaded rifle in the yard of a residence in the 0-100 block of James Street. The Canine Unit was called to the scene, and located the accused around 7:45 p.m. and he was arrested.

He is charged with:

  • Use of Firearm in Commission of Indictable Offence
  • Pointing a Firearm
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Carrying a Concealed Weapon
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing it’s Possession is Unauthorized
  • Possession of a Loaded Firearm
  • Uttering Threats
  • Breach of Recognizance x2
  • Possession of a Firearm and/or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order x4

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
