A person was arrested overnight after Sault Police spent nearly three hours negotiating with someone who barricaded themselves inside a Boundary Road residence and refused to come out.
Police issued a news release shortly after 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, warning the public of a heavy police presence in the 100 block of Boundary Road and asking people to avoid the area.
"Members of the Emergency Services Unit (ESU) and Patrol Services have the area contained,” the release said. “An Incident Commander and negotiators are on scene and attempting to communicate with the barricaded person.”
A follow-up news release issued this morning said a person was arrested “without incident around 2:20 a.m. and charged with mischief.”
For reasons that aren’t clear, the news release does not name the person charged.
“Sault Police thank community members for their cooperation in avoiding the area,” the release says.
SooToday will provide more details as they become available.
