Police respond to report of erratic driver waving a gun

No weapon was located, but 56-year-old driver faces impaired charges

On May 17, 2020, officers with Patrol Services arrested 56-year-old Paul Ingram for impaired driving.

At 9:32 p.m., police received a call of a truck entering a parking lot in the 300 block of Lake Street at a high rate of speed, cutting off another vehicle, waving a gun at the complainant and leaving the area at a high rate of speed.

Officers located the vehicle at 9:45 p.m. on Second Line West and conducted a traffic stop. Due to the call about a potential gun, officers asked the accused to exit the vehicle, which he did and he was arrested. A subsequent search of the accused and the vehicle located an open container of alcohol on the passenger seat. No weapon was located in the vehicle.

Officers noted a smell of alcohol coming from the accused. He provided two breath samples into an approved device, both registered a fail result.

He is charged with impaired driving alcohol and drugs, and impaired driving blood alcohol concentration 80 plus.

He is scheduled to appear in court on June 22, 2020.
