Police seize $466K in drugs, largest bust in Sault history

25-year-old accused faces trafficking charges as a result

Police have seized approximately $466,300 worth of suspected cocaine, crystal methamphetamine and fentanyl following the execution of a search warrant at a Bainbridge Street residence on Jan. 29.

A news release issued today states that "this is the largest seizure in the history of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service."

Charged is 25-year-old Destiny Nieminen who faces three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

On Jan. 29, 2022, officers with the Crime Suppression Unit and the Drug Enforcement Unit charged 25-year-old Destiny Nieminen with three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

On Saturday, Jan. 29, 2022, officers executed a search warrant at a residence in the 200 block of Bainbridge Street. Upon entering and searching the residence, officers located approximately 975 grams of a substance believed to be cocaine, approximately two kilograms of a substance believed to be crystal methamphetamine and approximately 445 grams of a substance believed to be fentanyl.

The estimated street value of the seizure is $466,300. This is the largest seizure in the history of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.

The accused was arrested and charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. She was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on March 28, 2022.
