Police seize loaded sawed off shotgun after firearms call

A 28-year-old faces multiple charges after an incident that occurred earlier this week, Sault Ste. Marie Police said in a news release today.

Police say they responded to reports around 9:30 p.m.last night of a man with a firearm at a residence in the 0-100 block of Grace Street. 

Upon arrival, officers blocked off the scene and arrested the accused when he left the residence. 

As a result, Nathan Rosene faces multiple charges (listed below).

On March 24, 2022, officers with Patrol Services charged 28-year-old Nathan Rosene with firearm offences.

Around 9:30 p.m. officers responded to reports of a man with a firearm at a residence in the 0-100 block of Grace Street. Upon arrival, officers contained the scene. A short time later the accused exited the residence and was arrested without incident.

A subsequent search located a loaded sawed off .410 calibre shotgun and ammunition.

He is charged with:

  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
  • Possession of Firearm with Ammunition Readily Accessible
  • Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order x8
  • Breach of Probation – Failing to Keep the Peace and be of Good Behaviour
  • Breach of Judicial Release Order x2

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
