Police seize suspected fentanyl, cocaine during arrest

43-year-old charged with trafficking

One person has been arrested for trafficking after an incident that took place yesterday, Sault Ste. Marie Police say.

A news release issued today by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service reports that officers responded to a call around 8:55 p.m. last night in regards to an unwanted person in the 500 block of Trunk Road. 

When they arrived, the accused was no longer at the scene. Further investigation showed that the accused is on conditions that say they are not to be in that area and is also wanted for a similiar occurance that happened on Sunday.

Police located the accused at 9:12 p.m. last night in the 500 block of Trunk Road and they were arrested.

Upon a search of the accused and the area of arrest, police say they found the accused to be in possession of 41 packages containing varying amounts of what is believed to be fentanyl, a bag with approximately 14.81 grams of suspected fentanyl, and .23 grams of what is believed to be cocaine. The estimated street value of the narcotics seized is approximately $9,368.

As a result, John Hodgson-Reedy, 43, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a controlled substance and two counts of breach of probation.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 2
